Berry and Processing: Technologies and Innovations" The 3rd international scientific-practical conference for the representatives of the berry and processing industries will take place on 12-13 December 2019. Venue: Hotel-restaurant complex "Aivengo"

For those who want to launch their own unique, highly profitable business, magazine Jagodnik (Ukraine) will organize the 3rd conference “Berry and Processing: Technologies and Innovations- 2019“, lasting two days, addressed to representatives of berry and processing industries.

This conference is considered as an effective platform for the introduction of new technologies, the best world’s practices and innovative techniques for the cultivation of various berry crops, both popular and niche. The second keynote topic will be dedicated to technologies in freezing and processing, on how to make value-added products and increase of competitiveness of Ukrainian products on the world market. Another no less important topic will be sales systems for fresh berries and berry products at the domestic and foreign markets.

For today, highbush blueberry is one of the main segments of berry business, which shows positive, constant growth and keeps going the development, both in terms of area expansion and in the field of increasing sales in Ukraine and worldwide. Thus, a significant part of the thematic content of the conference will be dedicated to highbush blueberry.

The event will also cover the cultivation, sales, and processing of other popular crops such as garden strawberry, raspberry, and black currant. Besides, we are going to separate a single block for such promising berry crops as haskap, red currant, chokeberry, hippophae, blackberry and others, which are gradually gaining popularity all over the world.

The conference program includes speeches by Ukrainian and foreign experts and practitioners. They have already confirmed their participation:

Pavel Vavrychuk, representative of company Polana and plant nursery Polska Borowka  (Poland), on the scientific and practical experience of growing organic highbush blueberries and ways to increase the profitability of the enterprise in growing this berry;

Oleg Bazyuk, director of the in-vitro nursery Dolyna Agro (Ukraine) – more details about modern varieties and selection of highbush blueberry, as well as about practical experience in cultivation;

Leszek Orlikowski, Professor of Instytut Ogrodnictwa, Skirniewice (Poland) -on the topic “Diseases and pests of highbush blueberry and haskap and how to deal with them, practical recommendations”;

Martin Vika, a representative of the company In-Vitro Kusibab (Poland), more detailed about Europe’s largest in-vitro laboratory, as well as the unique experience of growing haskap berry of own selection and promising varieties of this berry crop for business;

Jarosz Zbigniew, professor of the University of Life Sciences in Lublin, about the main agrotechnical problems (plant protection, fertilizer application, biostimulation) – during growing garden strawberries in the point of view of the past season experience;

Miroslav Kozhenovskiy, leading fruit and vegetable manager in the company Bayer in the Central and Eastern Europe, an international expert (Eastern Europe) – more detailed about the latest trends in the berry production in Poland and other key European berry countries;

Igor Tarushkin, regional manager of Bayer (Ukraine), will talk about “Berry protection – challenges and solutions. Why Serenade?”;

Marek Yamry, regional manager of the company Haygrove (Poland) – theme about the economic advisability of growing berry crops in the covered ground, with the presentation of results of own research, and the comparative characteristics of cultivation berries in tunnels and open ground;

Tetyana Hetman, head of the marketing-analytics department of wholesale market Shuvar – her speech about what berries or berry products consumers mostly require;

Igor Chechitko, GlobalG.A.P. certification specialist, will talk about “GlobalG.A.P. for berry businesses: experience of implementation”. The expert will reveal the main aspects of implementation: hygiene, plant protection, monitoring, etc;

Camilla Khruleva, a representative of Primozone Production AB (Sweden), will talk about food safety in fresh and frozen form, about water quality and new standards to avoid the use of chlorine in the purification of berries and fruits.

Moreover, the conference program will be included speeches of other market experts of Ukraine and Europe; their topics are still being agreed.

The conference program will also include speeches by practitioners, in particular, owners of berry plantations, processing companies, companies dealing in berry freezing, who will gladly share their own successful experience and warn against mistakes.

In particular, Victor Farafonov, director of company BETEK (Ukraine), will tell about innovative technologies in the cultivation of highbush blueberry from the experience of the largest berry farm in Eastern Europe.

The thematic speech from Vitaliy Ishmurat, the owner of farm TM “Jagody Volhynia” will be about “10 reasons not to start a business from growing berries”. Focusing on their and colleagues’ experience, the speaker will pay attention to important structural elements, whose absence may lead to deplorable results.”

Technology companies will be widely represented as well. The main conference partner will be company UNITEC, which presents unique quality classification technologies for the highbush blueberry that can significantly prolong the shelf life of fresh berries. Thus, revolutionary solutions allow you to see the fruit on 360 degrees, revealing features inaccessible to human vision, obtaining detailed information on internal quality, external quality, soft fruit, shape defects, size and color in each berry.

Goran Obradovic, the owner of PIGO, will deliver a speech on the topic “Lyophilisation or freeze-drying and freezing as a technology of the future”. The Italian manufacturer knows exactly how to bring a product to the consumer’s table in almost perfect form, saving all the vitamins and flavors, increasing their shelf life.

The speech of Anatoliy Bogdan, director of the company Insolar-Kholod, will be dedicated to the theme of storage and freezing of berries and stone fruits. This company is number one in Ukraine for almost 30 years as a supplier of refrigeration equipment and uses technologies from leading manufacturers Van Amerongen, Greefa, Salco, Thermofin.

The second conference day, a business tour to the leading processing enterprise Agropererobka and an enterprise dealing with freezing berries Agro Frost Rivne.
